Paddling on Nadiža river

After a rainy day, we checked the waterlevel of  Nadiža on the web: 12 m3/sec, dropping slowly. It is low, but runable.
Nadiža is very close to the Soča valley, it is in the neighbourhood of Kobarid. The put in is next to the Italian border at the bridge, the take out is at the end of the gorge, under the Napoleon bridge. It is possible to run only after rains, and only for a short time.
The run is not so long, but the river flows in a beautifull gorge. It is easy to warm up on the river, before you enter the canyon. After you have Class 3-4 creek with nice drops and boofs. Everything is scoutable. In the last rapid, there is a dangerous undrcut in the center, we portagded the half of the rapid.
It is a beautifull and fun run!

Spring of 2013 on the Soca river

Thanks for the unordinary long winter and the lot of snow, it seems the Soca river will run with very good waterlevels this spring for a long time. There was snowing in the lower elevations of the valley, and the snow stayed.
There is still cold on the higher elevation of the mountains, so you can have small volume runs on the upper sections, and big volume runs on the lower sections.
On 15 of March, the whitewater season started on the Soca valley. A lot of kayaker arrived. We are so close to the Adriatic see to had some warmer days, while there was still winter in Europe.
